Membership

  • How do I sign up for NPG’s CLEAR Care Program?

Memberships are currently available for groups in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. To register, a group of at least 10 amateur athletes (on the same team or part of the same club or organization) must register together. This streamlines our process of visiting the group for on-site baseline testing. To sign up, individuals can reach out via our Contact Us form and a member of our team will contact you with more information.

  • Is this program available in my area?

The NPG CLEAR Care program is currently available in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, due to medical licensure. We are working to expand soon to South Carolina and then to other states. Please contact us to inquire when we will be available in your area.

  • Can I sign up an athlete alone for the program, or does the entire team have to join?

A group of at least 10 amateur athletes must register together for the NPG CLEAR Care Program. They can be on the same team, part of the same school or club, or members of the same gym or organization. The group must share a location. We do this to streamline the process of visiting the group for the on-site baseline testing that is the core of the program. If you are interested in sharing more information with others to form a group of 10, please contact us for help.

  • Is this program only for children?

No. The NPG CLEAR Care program is available to amateur athletes of all ages. Brain injuries and potential concussions can happen to anyone while playing sports. Protect the brain health and long-term health of athletes young and old with our affordable, smart concussion care system.

Pricing

  • What does a membership cost?

An annual membership for NPG’s CLEAR Care Program is just $30. This registration cost covers baseline testing, on-field assessment, and on-going, as-needed care for concussions.

  • How is membership so inexpensive? Will we truly receive medical care at this price?

The low cost of just $30/year is made possible because part of the membership fee includes a HeadStrong Insurance Policy. Should the athlete have a concussion, this policy kicks in to cover the remaining costs of brain injury care, including all related medical expenses – at no further cost to you. NPG will provide the necessary form for members to file with insurance to cover the medical costs.

The Science

  • How do you know for sure whether or not someone has had a concussion?

The best way to know if a person has experienced a concussion is to compare their current brain functioning with their functioning before the injury. Therefore, you need to do baseline brain testing before an injury occurs. The first step in the CLEAR Care program is to gather baseline data on all our members. Then, should the athlete experience a head injury, we can use on-site, portable apps to take measurements and immediately compare them to the athlete’s baseline data. If the numbers have a concerning level of difference, then we know to do further screening of what is now a potential concussion. If the numbers show no real difference, we can rule out a concussion. This method is significantly more reliable and accurate than other common on-site concussion screening methods, such as holding up fingers, talking, or observing eye dilation.

  • How can you accurately screen for a concussion at the athletic event?

The first step in concussion screening is gathering baseline information before any injury. NPG does this by visiting the group and administering ocular tests and balance tests. This data is then safely stored in NPG’s cloud-based app. Then, should the athlete experience a head injury during an event, a designated person (parent, coach, trainer) can run specialized smartphone apps immediately and on-site, and compare that data to how the brain was functioning before the injury. It’s this personalized comparison to the baseline that makes our screening so accurate. If the numbers have a concerning level of difference, then we know to do further screening of what is now a potential concussion. The athlete will be pulled from that event and scheduled for the next phase of screening with more equipment, including the EyeBox ocular device and mobile qEEG/p300 device.

  • What devices and apps do you use to screen for concussions?

NPG is constantly researching the best medical technology for brain assessment. We currently use an ocular imaging box, two specialized apps, and a mobile qEEG/p300 device as part of our screening and evaluation protocol. Once we have confirmed a concussion, athletes are paired with a neurologist to interpret results from these tests and prepare a treatment plan. Technology plus personalized expertise provides the best possible care.
